America –the Empire and its Israeli Dependency

The dynamics of the United States arouse almost erotic temptations to compare it to the Roman Empire and the unflattering slur of a dying Empire.  And while history does not repeat itself, it does create precedents that cannot be ignored.

If we are to judge by precedent, the alliance between the countries of North America is temporary and will fall apart within 50 years, according to the rate and dynamic of its falling status in the world.

 

America appears to have already lost its premier status in the world due to its unpopularity, its having been attacked (Twin Towers), its being bogged down in Iraq and the falling status of the dollar and the economic monopoly of America around the world in general.

 

In this reality Israel’s closeness to the United States – as beneficial as it has been and still is – is a double edged sword.  Historical justice requires that we stand by our friend come hell or high water. Yet common sense also requires a radical change in Israel’s notion of foreign affairs and an intensified campaign to achieve peace treaties and alliances with the greatest number of countries from around the world.
