Reform in higher education: what will our society look like 20 years from now?

How much should a university lecturer be paid? Are all the lecturers at the same degree level entitled to identical salaries? How do you compensate excellent lecturers who devote themselves to their students? By what method should we calculate the time scholars invest in their research? Is a researcher whose work results in financial benefits (such as in technological areas for example) entitled to claim greater remuneration than someone who deals in “dead languages”? What tuition should a student in a certain discipline pay in comparison to a student in a different discipline? All of these questions are meant to be answered by the committee headed by Beiga Shochat. Whatever its conclusions, opposition is already being rallied.
