Ending long bloody disputes is to be found, it appears, in economic recovery. At least this is the lesson to be drawn from the peace between the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. In the past the north was developed and the south was lagging economically. Today the north is jealous of the south and in order to achieve the economic prosperity that prevails in the south all the parties of Northern Ireland are prepared to make peace.
