The former Minister of Education, Limor Livnat, promoted the Dovrat Report very courageously, however this report is lacking several essential and vital matters concerning the repair of society and education in Israel: education towards values, equality between the poor and the rich, and educational leadership based on character and behavior. Instead of all these, it contains mainly an administrative-economic plan which does not provide a solution to the steadily widening social gap – and does not even see the need to specifically mention the value-related aspect.
Following the coming elections, the Minister of Education must remember that only a Jewish, Zionistic, and humanitarian message based on full equality in education and on a value-oriented choice of teachers, will save value oriented education – and must act as the Minister of Equality and Educational Leadership.
