Arik Sharon resigned from the Likud and established the Kadima Party, before they had the chance to dismiss him from the Likud, seeing as he completely neglected its ideology. The new political invention drew many "stars" from the Right and Left and currently leads in the polls, and it appears that its victory is a sure thing.
However, if the Likud will be wise enough to present a clear platform towards the elections and a clear action plan, reflecting the Jabotinsky ideology adapted to current issues at hand – it could very well be that its traditional voters will abandon Kadima's vacuous charm at the last minute, and determine the elections in favor of the Likud. It should also be assumed that the "credibility" of Likud dissidents, such as Zahi Hanegbi and Shaul Mofaz, will help tip the balance.
