The new immigrants of the former Soviet Union suffer from steadily exacerbating problems which do not interest the political system in the State of Israel. The new immigrants are not properly represented in the parties which they vote for, and the handful of new immigrants who are members of the old-time parties do not have any real room to maneuver.
A new immigrant party is the necessary solution in this case; however the financial difficulties and the absence of a charismatic figure among the new immigrants hinder its establishment. Nevertheless, it should be noted that since the 1992 elections, the voting patterns of new immigrants have tipped the scales as far as the fate of the government in Israel is concerned – and it is safe to assume that this is what will happen this time around as well.
