The Likud - Back to the Corner

The Likud grew from a "niche" party into an all-encompassing and powerful party, and maintained this status for many years. But today it is about to revert to being a sectorial party with few supporters. Go-getters in the higher echelons of the party are mainly responsible for this change, driven by narrow interests of political survivability.

Contrary to Ariel Sharon, these key activists have failed to understand that the silent majority in the State of Israel is prepared to forgo the dream of the Greater Land of Israel and to agree to a uni-lateral withdrawal. They preferred to push the Likud farther right, with total disregard for the fact that there are already several parties active in this narrow sector, making the Likud's breathing space that much smaller in the aftermath of the elections.
