Is Israel is Indeed a Democratic Country?

These are despondent times: the settlers and their Rabbis, who have already led to the murder of Yitzhak Rabin of blessed memory, pose a threat to democracy; the economic situation is terrible, and many suffer from want; the IDF oppresses the Palestinians and steals their land by virtue of outdated mandatory orders – and is inciting war, without taking the next victims into consideration.

In view of all this, the choice of Amir Peretz to stand at the helm of the Labor Party is an encouraging message. Amir Peretz's voice is loud and clear. He forces all of us to take a good look at society and its problems – the unemployed, the elderly, the sick and single parent families. Amir Peretz also speaks clearly on peace and the Palestinians' right to a state of their own.
