The intention of the "Wisconsin Plan" is to integrate into the labor market people who are capable of working, whose main income is from income assurance compensation, as well as to improve their quality of life. Those participating in the program must report daily to the employment centers, where a variety of activities are available to prepare them for entering the labor market. This is a condition for receving compensation. In addition, participants enjoy the support-work systems (such as child care) and professional guidance until they are back to work. Similar programs are active with varying degrees of success in the United States (a stricter version) and in Europe.
